Protocol for School Closure or Partial Closure – advance notice

Dear Parent/Carer,

In the event of inclement weather or exceptional circumstances such as heating failure, flooding, or other emergencies, we want to ensure clear communication and minimize disruption to your child’s learning. We kindly ask that you review the below information:

Full closure details:
  1. Review the school website the night before or by 7.45 AM on the morning in question for any announcements.
  2. Check for emails and/or text messages from the school by 7.45 AM for updates regarding full or partial closure.
Partial closure details:

This means that only selected classes will be closed for the day and others will be open.

  1. Check for emails and/or text messages from the school by 7.45 AM for updates partial closure. NOTE – if you do not hear from the school by this time, please assume that the school is open for your son/daughter.
  2. If the school is partially closed for your son/daughter, you will also receive an email from your child’s class teacher by 10:30 AM, providing Microsoft Teams links for online sessions scheduled at the following times: Morning Session: 11:15 AM – 11:45 AM

Once again, if you do not receive any communication from the school, please assume that the school is open as usual. We appreciate your cooperation in ensuring the safety and well-being of all our students and staff during these circumstances.

Welcome to St Giles School. Our vision is to give every child every opportunity to “be the best that they can be”. We cater for children with complex physical disabilities, medical needs, speech and language difficulties and a range of associated learning difficulties aged 4 – 16. We have a Further Education unit for young people with profound and multiple learning difficulties aged 16-19.
